VALOR: Valorisaition of Ancient Farming Techniques in Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture

ERASMUS+ VALOR PROJECT, GRAN SASSO-LAGA PARK SUMS UP
Important project phase of European initiative closed
Assergi, L’Aquila Italy 09/28/2022. The final conference of the European Erasmus + Knowledge Alliance VALOR project related to the valorization of ancient sustainable and resilient agricultural practices was held on September 20 in the historic setting of the Palazzo dei Nobili in L'Aquila.
The Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park as the coordinator of the project, which saw an extensive partnership, consisting of European protected areas, Greek and Romanian universities as well as various institutions and individuals working in social and international collaboration, hosted this two-day work and rendering of final results.
The aim of the Erasmus + Knowledge Alliance VALOR project was to create two educational and training pathways for the creation of new professional figures in the agricultural and livestock field capable of interpreting the new challenges related to climate change and a new approach with primary production.
The Erasmus + Knowledge Alliance VALOR project is a response to contemporary European challenges and ambitions to address climate change, a good example of knowledge and skills innovation in training aimed at agricultural professions.
The two courses for "Managers and Technicians in Sustainable and Resilient Agriculture" were presented at the L'Aquila conference before an audience consisting of many stakeholders in biodiversity protection, agroecological approach and sustainability of human activities. In particular, interest was shown by the many students attending from the Institutes for Agriculture, the natural recipients of these specific educational proposals.
In the final conference equally interest in the new training paths was shown by technicians and professionals who often find themselves working within protected areas.
Indeed, the Erasmus + Knowledge Alliance VALOR project promoted the implementation of a compatible educational model that led to innovative curricula supporting quality and ancient traditions.
Relying on an international partnership, the proposed courses aim to promote innovative curricula aimed at supporting traditional agricultural productions as key activities for sustainability and resilience in inland or marginal areas; activities that, by safeguarding production as the main activity, are factors of sustainability and, at the same time, look to the future and new development models of green and innovative agriculture.
In the coming weeks the courses will be released for use by interested parties by all project partners through the https://eclass.llc.uth.gr/courses/KDVM283/ platform provided by the University of Thessaly in Greece. The training courses will be available for use both in English and in the language of the individual countries.
At the end of the courses and after passing a final evaluation test, a specific certificate of participation will be issued.
